Competition Entry Guidelines
The competition is open to all students in the College of Architecture and Environmental Design. Any type of furniture will be accepted including (but not limited to) tables, lamps, and chairs. Team projects will be accepted and a student may enter multiple pieces; however, if there becomes limited availability, students with multiple entries will be asked to choose their strongest piece to be judged.
Pieces will be judged on function, individuality and beauty.
Gallery exhibition, judging and reception will be held at 848 Monterey Street (Old Pier 1 space), October 26, 6:00 - 10:00 pm. A silent auction will be held for all pieces by designers that choose to accept bids on their designs. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top selected entries. The top winners will have the opportunity to display their pieces in the Design Within Reach showroom in Santa Barbara at a special event in December.
Requirements
Dimensions: Pieces must fit into a box 40”x 40”x 80” in any orientation
Materials: Open
Entries must be accompanied by a cd with two images (one production process image, one finished product image).
Entries must be accompanied by an 8.5“ x 11” (minimum) poster.
Pre-Application Due: Friday, October 5, 2007 by 5:00 pm (required for submission)
Furniture Due: Friday, October 26, 2007 between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm
