The ability to draw and sketch should be an integral part of the way we think and communicate, and understand our world. The act of drawing should be an "everyday" activity for everyone and anyone and particularly for those pursuing a life in architecture and design. Through the generous support from the James R. Bagnall and Kathryn R. McCafferty Endowment, there will be a one-day workshop held at the Santa Margarita Ranch to give us the opportunity to draw, and share ideas on the importance of drawing in our Architecture program here at Cal Poly. We are fortunate that Neil Watson has once again agree to join us for this workshop (log onto the 2007 Watercolor Worshop as part of the Hearst Lecture Series). Those of you who have met Neil on prior visits know him to be an extremely interesting and talented individual who is passionate about dreqing and painting. This should be a special opportunity that you won't want to miss.
Over eighty two students and ten faculty joined this Workshop.
Every evening 6:30pm - 8:30pm in the CAED Berg Gallery, Room 05-105, Monday April 28th through Friday, May 2nd, 2008.
The Architecture Department is pleased to co-sponsor with the Daedalus Chapter of Alpha Rho Chi, a Portfolio Workshop let by Prof. Emeritus Gary Dwyer (more information please visit Lulu.com) and architect Bryan Ridley. The Department is committed in seeing our students learn how to present their work in a concise and elegant manner during their tenure at Cal Poly and for future professional interviews and Graduate School applications.
Students will learn how to "plan, organize, and document their educational and professional work." What format, content, layout, and appropriate scale of work to include in the portfolio will be part of the many topics presented during the five evening sessions. Workshop will include faculty presentations, faculty and students' portfolio examples. Please bring pen and notebook for each session.
