The Architecture Department is pleased to co-sponsor with the Daedalus Chapter of Alpha Rho Chi, a Portfolio Workshop led by Prof. Gary Dwyer and architect Bryan Ridley. The Department is committed in seeing our students learn how to present their work in a concise and elegant manner during their tenure at Cal Poly and for future professional interviews and Graduate School applications.
Students will learn how to "plan, organize and document education, work samples and skills." What format, content, layout, and appropriate scale of work to include in the portfolio will be part of the many topics presented during the five evening sessions. Workshop will include faculty presentations, faculty and students' portfolio examples. Please bring pen and notebook for each session.
Time & Location: Every evening 6:30pm - 8:30pm in the CAED Berg Gallery, Room 05-105, Monday April 28th through Friday, May 2nd, 2008.

This workshop/symposium will include eight to ten students with a faculty member from seven institutions working in mixed groups of three to four. Cal Poly Faculty: To be determined
Schedule: November 2 through November 9, 2008
Selection Process: Spring Quarter 2008
The Architecture Department feels that this exceptional opportunity—occurring during their capstone year—should be available to all students regardless of their financial ability. All 5th year architecture students in good standing at Cal Poly will be eligible to submit portfolios to be chosen as one of the eight to ten participants this year. Selection of students will be based on ability as demonstrated through portfolio with no student excluded through financial hardship. In the event of a tie between students applying for the position, those who have not participated in an off-campus program with the Architecture Department will be given priority. Professor Jonathan Reich, Area Coordinator of Fifth year, will be in charge of the process.
Topic: This year's tentative topic will focus on the Gothic brick cathedrals and stone architecture of the region, as well as more megalomanian structure on the island of Ruegen. For more information please log onto Prora.

How will you transport your payload? Trek on, modern day Lewis and Clark, and you will find this expedition isn't as out of this world as you think.
