The Architecture Department at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, CA, is looking for colleagues to join the University as tenure-track faculty for the academic year beginning on September 13, 2010. Salary, rank, and teaching assignments are commensurate with qualifications and experience. Multiple positions are available in a program offering the B.Arch. and M.S. in Arch.; the department seeks faculty in the following curriculum areas.

The Department’s polytechnic tradition promotes theory and practice as equally critical components of an architectural identity. This identity emphasizes collaborative and project-based learning, culminating in a senior thesis. The University makes interdisciplinary work a high priority for students and faculty, enabled by the five departments of the College of Architecture and Environmental Design: Architecture, Architectural Engineering, City and Regional Planning, Construction Management, and Landscape Architecture.

Minimum qualifications for all positions:

Eligibility for license or Ph.D. candidacy is acceptable for appointment, but promotion and tenure are contingent on possession of the license or Ph.D. Uniquely qualified candidates not meeting minimum qualifications but with exceptional professional knowledge, teaching experience, or recognized work will be considered.

Preferred qualifications for all positions: a record of excellence in teaching, scholarship, and/or critical practice; a flexible and integrating approach to architectural education.
