"The ninth annual America's Best Architecture Schools study ranks accredited undergraduate and graduate architecture program from the perspective of practitioners. The survey, conducted in mid-2008, tapped architecture firm leaders who, during the past five years, have had direct experience in the hiring and performance of recent architecture graduates. Leading firms were queried about which accredited programs have best prepared students for today's and tomorrow's real-world practice. A cross-section of US firms with a disbursed geographic profile participated, including firms that are leaders in their market sector (i.e., healthcare, commercial, institutional) and that have won major national, state, local, and market-sector awards."
This report gives much resonance to the integrity of our pedagogical responsibilities. Our learn by doing philosophy combines common sense and intellectual curiosity, and our graduates are well positioned to become the next team players in a world of increased complexity. In particular this year’s 2009 Design Intelligence rankings sends a clear message that practitioners recognize the importance of a polytechnic education. The Architecture Department remains ambitious in educating creative leaders who can work in an integrative and interdisciplinary manner; a professional path that continues to be demonstrated successfully by our alumni.
